Welcome Back 2025-2026!

Good day Smokey Drive Families!

Welcome to all of our new students and welcome back to our returning ones! Staff are in the building and are busy preparing for the first day on Thursday. Below you will find some reminders that will help you and your child get ready for the start of the year.

  • All students and families are invited to the school tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3rd from 5:00-6:00 pm to meet your child's teacher, see their classroom and drop off any school supplies. There will also be a cool treat for everyone! This is an opportunity for you have a brief visit and allow your child to hopefully feel more comfortable about their first day. Please make an appointment with the classroom teacher if you would like to have a more in depth conversation about your child. The front doors to the building will be opened just prior to our 5:00 pm start time.
  • Classroom teachers will be reaching out either today or early tomorrow to introduce themselves and to let you know that your child is in their class. In that communication, they will be giving you some more specific information about the doors that your child will be picked up at the end of the day. They will also ask if your child will be picked up by you or have other arrangements (like EXCEL or another after school care provider).
  • Students are allowed on the premises each day beginning at 8:15 am when staff will be on duty. They will be entering the building at 8:25 am when the first bell rings. Recess is from 10:05-10:20 am each day. Lunch is from 12:05-1:00 pm. Students go outside to play for the first half and eat during the second half. Dismissal is at 2:30 pm.
  • On the first day of school on Thursday, September 4th, students in Grades Primary and One will be directed to the gym to meet their teacher. All other students in Grades 2-5 will enter the front door and proceed to their classes on their own. Staff will be on hand to direct them if needed. Students in Pre-Primary will receive more details from the Pre-Primary staff prior to Thursday.
  • If you haven't already noticed, our new playground is still under construction and will continue to be for at least a few weeks into September. The area is fenced off and school staff will be on hand to help students navigate around the outside. We would appreciate you having a conversation with your child to remind them to stay away from the area and to listen to staff for any important instructions about where or where not to play.

We are very much looking forward to the start of another amazing school year!
